Greta, the Simpsons Already did It
In 2007, acolytes of the global warming religion were already in a full court press to gin up panic and support for their sacrificial causes, but on balance, society was still savvy enough to harbor some skepticism (coincidentally, GlobalClimateScam.com began in 2007). Screeds about the coming environmental catastrophe were even lampooned. Matt Groening and his gang served up an on-the-nose takedown of climate alarmists of the day. A speech delivered to her Springfield Elementary School class by cartoon character Lisa Simpson makes an easy analog to Greta Thunberg’s recent performance piece at the United Nations, which in turn reflects current climate activism in general.
Something has changed, however. Since the Simpsons Movie poked fun at end of the world climate prophets, a whole generation has been indoctrinated to the point of neurosis in our public schools. Our high schools and universities are now graduating newly minted zealots into society at large. This upcoming generation are bringing their faith in the church of global warming into the arena of public policy and it’s not such a joke anymore.
